ID Released For 22-Year-Old Man Killed In I-287 Crash

The identity has been released of a man killed in an overnight motorcycle crash in Westchester early Monday morning.

The motorcyclist was transported to Westchester Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased after the crash on I-287 in White Plains, which occurred around 12:20 a.m. Monday, state police said.

An investigation at the scene revealed the driver of the motorcycle, 22-year-old Francis X. Claps III of Old Greenwich was operating his 2012 Yamaha FZ6-R westbound on I-287 and failed to negotiate a curve for Exit 7 (deceleration ramp) and struck a guide rail, state police said early Tuesday morning.

No other vehicles were involved and no other injuries reported, police said.
